MDI: IPod doesn't reconnect properly

Now I have finally got my new monte I have been trying out the MDI with my IPod video.

 

It works great apart from one thing that bugs me.

When I switch off the engine and then restart the car the IPod doesn't always reconnect with the MDI.

I have to disconnect the cable from the IPod and plug it in again.

 

It's a bit annoying to have to do this everytime you get in the car. I wasn't planning on taking the IPod out of the car.

 

Is there a way to fix this or is it just my IPod?
