Basically absolutely fine and since its got wet the engine management light has come on even though the car hasnt changed in anyway. Can anyone please help advise. Thanks

Well you can pay a garage to read the fault code(s) for you.

Or - try to find a local suitably-equipped Briskoda member who's willing to read it for you for the price of a beer or three.

Or - buy something like this and do it yourself.

first thing I would try is releasing any possible air blocks in the coolant and oil systems, very easy to do just use the inside of a ball pen to push the release values in.

secondly reset the light manually, by just removing the keys from the car, holding down the button on the dash to reset the mile clock, then just insert the key turn up power but don't start the engine, wait 10 seconds all while still holding the mile reset button, then start the car, this should reset the fault, if then however the fault is picked up again and the light sooner after comes back on then have it checked out,

Should you choose to gain access to equipment and software to read the code yourself as given as an option above then I would recommend this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EOBD-OBD-1-2-VAGCOM-ECU-Remapping-Chip-Tuning-Diagnostic-Software-For-All-Cars-/221283174700?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item338581492c

In fact having the ability to read the code yourself is well worth the money since even if you find its a problem you can't fix yourself, you can still save tons of money by going into a garage armed with the knowledge of exactly what's wrong with your car and having already shopped around to get a good deal on any parts you need instead on paying whatever a garage wants to charge you for those parts.

Better let it be known the where-abouts the vehicle plug is, I only found the place just recently by accident.

It's my secret... not telling....LOL

I've deleted what I consider to be irrelevant - but the above part of that quote is true!

If you have an intermittent fault, after something like 6 fault free engine starts, the fault light will go out until the/a fault reappears. The original fault(s) will still be stored in the engine ECU memory.

Guessing is no good, for what it costs, the Gendan one will be okay, but maybe not on your next car. Proper VAG-COM, or as it is now known as VCDS is a proper diagnostic tool that you can buy from UK resellers, including Gendan.  (www.gendan.co.uk).

BTW I have that Gendan tool, just to have in the glovebox for "on the move" initial diagnoses, though its coverage stops at about MY2009, so it is still okay for use with wife's Polo 9N but not my S4.
