Cr vrs tdi drone

Featured Replies

Does anyone else with same car get like a drone sound from engine ? I can get it to do it by lightly revving the engine to about 2 k and it comes in. Can also notice it When doodling along in stop start traffic.

Does sound like the air box but had my lass sat in car to replicate noise while I push and squeeze bits but nothing stops it. Also does slightly sound like the undertray while driving but it's not that.

Even removed the air scoop From slam panel as saw a thread about it, but on a petrol to no avail.

Cheers.

mine drones when its regen'ing but not really otherwise. Sound deadening on the Octy isnt the best so a bit more diesel noise hits the cabin than it did in my old Golf.

Oh it much quiter than my fabia vrs just this drone/vibration.

But then it's only once the revs gets to roughly 1.5k then goes. Once moving its fine might just be me being picky.

I've noticed this too.

Combined with the fact I practically gutted my previous motor to fit sound deadening just about everywhere you can think of, the CR170 does seem to "drone" a little (particularly when cold), at least to my ears.

Also a slightly unpleasant vibration/reverberation sensed through the steering wheel when cold, which my Honda diesel just didn't exhibit. Does the VAG lump have a balancer shaft, like the diesel Honda? If so, its not nearly as effective.

I've fitted a boot mat and some felt under the rear seat base, but this hasn't really cured the noise from the front end.

Anyone able to point me in the direction of some custom fit deadening (similar to the NoiseKiller kit, but cheaper) what won't break the bank?

I really can't be bothered to strip out the interior again as I did my last car though, tbh.

Cheers
