Yeah, been looking on google too, found the right wording, i will get a new sump any ideas on how to get the oil out tho ha...

If you're fitting a new sump, just drill a hole in your old one :)

Buy a sump bung repair kit. I have one at work. Basically, if you've got a damaged M16 thread, you put an M17 tap through it and fit an M17 bung and washer.

Probably cheaper than a new sump, and a lot easier/quicker to do

In my experiences with Heli Coils is that once the original Bolt is screwed into the Heli Coil they don't like to be unscrewed back and in back and in as you would when you change the oil.

Even with thread lock they might get hung up on the bolt as you unscrew it and end up pulling the Heli Coil out like a spring.

One of the ideas behind the Heli Coil is the tighter you make the original bolt the tighter the Coil bites into the material thus making the connection stronger than the original thread,

I actually see an opportunity here to do some extra work for nothing!

Taping it to the next size would prob be a better idea over the Heli Coil, but you will need to replace the sealing washer or replace the whole bolt if you cant get the washer off every oil change.

Now with taping whether to the next size or Heli Coiling its advised you remove the sump to clean out the swarf properly after woulds. Now this presents the extra work for free as while the sumps off clean out all the oil that gets baked to the sump and replace the oil pump pick up pipe as they get blocked over time.

Of course this is just a suggestion

New aftermarket sump £40 job done

I know but its more fun looking up the skirt of your block

Lol

Plus you learn some thing new about your engine, as that's what being a petrol heads all about

Use something like this, will take about very little time to fit, and cheaper than a sump

Are you going to do the pick-up while the sump is off?

It's the best option by far, no metal bits floating around then :)
