Microswitch or something else?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new to the community and I'm glad I found this awesome forum! :)

Since I bought my car a few months back I noticed that the door open light on my dashboard was off even when the door is open. Today I decided I wanted to see what's going on. I went to the mechanic and he used VCDS to turn the light back on, but now it's always on even when the doors are closed. After reading several topics here I concluded it must be the microswitch.

Nevertheless, I wanted to check again, since I don't have any other symptoms people generally mentioned. Everything else works great, the courtesy lights in the doors, locking and unlocking using both the remote and the key, the led in the driver door is flashing when locked etc. After running a test on VCDS the diagnostic said there was no communication with the right rear door, but I don't have any issues with that door as far as locking, unlocking, door light etc. goes.

So, is this a microswitch problem and is VCDS always right as far as the diagnostic goes, should I first look at changing the microswitch on the right rear door?

Thank you! :)
