205/40/17 Tyre Pressure

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, just wondered what everyone with this size of tyre/wheel is running there air pressure at?

Thanks

arent you meant to keep the tyres pressure as standard when you change the size of wheel and tyre

i allways keep mine at the higher of the two pressures recomended

I used to run mine on 36 PSI front and 34 at the back - front a bit more to compensate for the weight of the engine.

That was on Toyo Proxy T1-R's.

I found that to be the best pressures for me... hope this helps  .

Cheers, thanks for that. Its Proxes i'm running too. They are sitting at 34 allround at the mo. Will try the front with that little extra

Should be 33psi/32psi standard so your not far off.

Under the fuel cap, doesn't it say on that little table that front pressure should be less than rear?

If the rears are higher than the fronts the the back end has more of a tendancy to break away when cornering.

I usually set my pressures the same all round, Dont know why, just lazy I guess.

I have just put them up to 32 on my little Suzuki alto as the car felt a bit unstable in the corners, possibly due to the tyrewall being weak.

A friend has just bought a Fabia Sport with 17 inch wheels. Will the 33 psi (front), 32 psi (rear) be the same since this model has the 1.4 petrol engine?
