Help - yellow ish light on one side of Xenons

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have depo projector Xenons - 4.3k. Passenger side is coming out white/blue, the drivers side is coming out with a yellow tint on top of the beam making both bulbs look completely different.

The bulbs are fine and so are the headlamps. Ca anyone help me out please?

Thanks

Ollie

Photos to show :-

From a distance it's very noticeable.

I changed over the bulbs and it was the same. I got a replacement headlamp but it's still the same. I'm thinking possibly HID kit (?) However when i had normal headlamps on 6k they were both the same colour wise.

Mine was like that.

I sent it back and got a replacement.

Sent headlamp back?

I've already sent the first headlamp back, and this is another brand new one

Yep. They accepted it was faulty and replaced it.

If you swap the bulb and ballast from the side that's fine, and it still does it, the headlight unit is faulty.

Just swapped the ballast over to the yellowly side and it's still the same. This is the 2nd headlamp now :o

yeah, its a discoloured lense in the unit, i had the same issue.

So it could just be pure bad luck they have sent me out a faulty unit twice in a row?

Could well be.  I sent one back for an unrelated fault to yours, and it was painless process.  I just had to "pay" for the replacement in the short term until I sent the faulty one back (as I couldn't be without a headlight)

Yeah, i'm getting a bit annoyed now

I will send them the two photos explaining again the situation then maybe give them a ring tomorrow. It sounds like this is a very common problem (?)

FFS, I noticed this on mine tonight and disregarded it as being my eyes.

I will confirm it tomorrow, I only really noticed it tonight when I was parked up behind my mates van, 1 side looked very yellow.

Maybe you's need to swap them over and one person have a matchin yellow set.

This looks to be your problem . It's often a side effect of cheap lenses, which I guess they have in the headlights you've ordered. There's not much you'll be able to do to solve it, it's just the colours being separated as it goes though the lens. The fact it's not consistent from one unit to another, just makes me believe the lenses aren't made to very fine tolerances.

You may have seen the same effect on old-style OHP projectors. It happens towards the edges of the beam on those too. I wouldn't worry about it.

Other people with the same depo headlamps haven't had this problem (not all), or keep getting a replacement till I get one that's ok ?

It's just really frustrating the way it looks noticeable like I have two different coloured bulbs when it's not even them
