Water Under Paint? Bubbles After Washing?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

What the hell is going on here? Just washed the car down, buffing it with the micro-towel and I find these little buggers!?!

What the hell is this and is there any way I can fix it ?The bubbles move under some pressure....

try and hand buff them, might be off the micro-fibre buffer.

Hmmm, looks suspicious!

Any chance of some macro shots with and without flash?

Not sure what you mean stuart, I was buffing off some shampoo/wax with a large microfibre towel, which was working well over the rest of the car.

I'll take some proper photos of it later today, cheers guys!

Is that on the spoiler by any chance? Then it's the start of Lacquer peel

Its the wing and looks like air bubbles under the clear coat

Has that part of the car been resprayed?

I would take it to the dealer for an inspection or to a bodyshop

Hi Chris,

Yeah it's the front drivers side wing. I don't know if the car has been resprayed, it's new to me this month.

I'll hunt around for a bodyshop that can take a look, it's not really noticeable unless you're there trying to buff wax off or something. If it is air rather than water and it's just trapped between the paint and the clear-coat then I guess that's not as terrible as an issue where water is getting in...?

Looks like micro blistering to me. It may suggest that it has had some paint at some point, and moisture particles were present in the airlines or gun when doing the job.
