Bought a vRS :D

Featured Replies

After having a 1.6 Fiesta for 4 years i have been looking at around 20 different cars and the Skoda won in the end!

I bought it from Skoda and should hopefully be picking it up on Thursday.

It's a petrol 10 plate (registered June) in candy white on only 9800 miles!

It was bought from the previous owner new from Skoda and had a full service history.

It did have a tow bar but the salesman said the guy only towed a trailer for garden stuff (hope that's true and not a huge caravan lol).

I did notice that on all the tyres that the outside of the tyres were all worn down (passed an MOT in May but getting a full MOT as part of the sale). Is this something i should worry about as the car has not even done 10k miles yet?

It had some sort of paint protector thing on it too which is a bonus. No optional extras though but the likes of parking sensors i don't car about ha! The Maxidot would of been a bonus but i'll have to go without.

Is there anything i should look out for or get changed to the car? I know about the tensioner failure but if i get the cambelt and water pump changed next year (for the 4 year service) will that solve the problem and i can stop worrying about that 1 thing?

Thanks.

Welcome!

Sounds like a 4 wheel alignment might be in order to sort the wear issue you have there.

Yours is most likely chain not belt on a 10 plate so no belt to change.

I've had my petrol vrs since 7000 miles. Now on 89000. Love it and I'm sure you will as well!!

Have them sort the alignment, with a printout showing before and after values.

I would also be asking for them to sort the tyres out, BEFORE you fully commit to the sale.

As others have said id want the tyres replacing & a proper 4 wheel alignment done on the car before i paid for it/collected it. This is only my opinion but if i was buying this car i would take out a warranty so IF the tensioner fails you will be covered & not left with a big bill. Enjoy your new car & welcome to the forum.  :D

I'd go for an extended warranty got to be worth it if you are not 100% sure about previous use, e.g. did the previous owner really only tow a garden trailer?

Also get a full Hunter alignment done. the problem with that is finding somewhere local to your dealer.
