Introduction and engine mount failure

Featured Replies

Good Evening,

One month ago I bought a 2007 octavia VRS TFSI estate. All was going well until a week ago I heard whining from the engine bay.

The garage I went to investigated and found that the cam belt and pulleys were rubbing on their casings and the engine mount. The bit that had failed was infact the engine block, a section has fractured and come loose where there is a female thread for one of the engine mount bolts.

The cam belt was changed 10,000 miles ago so I presume that the mount bolts were torqued up to much or too little or the old stretch bolts were refitted or a combination of these errors occurred.

Has this ever happened to anyone else with this engine?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi and welcome aboard.

If you only bought it a month ago can you take it back.

Welcome.

As above, get who ever sold it to sort it.
