Car cuts power @ 5000 revs?!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

2.0 TFSi Octavia VRS, 94k on the clock.

Basically today I was tootling home on the motorway, dropped down a cog and put my foot down. Car accelerated nicely to 5k at which point it jolted and threw the revs right down.

Red line is obviously 7k, so I'd expect similar symptoms when hitting this but surely not at 5k. No ESP light came on, and I managed to replicate fault so I don't feel it's the ESP cutting the power. Under dealer warranty but ideas would be welcomed so I can go in and not be fobbed off!

Thank you

No one? Hmmm....

Going into dealer with apparent coil pack or injector fault according to their workshop manager.

Do I need to be a freedom member to receive technical advice/assistance off other members by the way?!

Without a fault code scan we'd all be guessing.

Is it misfiring?

Is it remapped?

saw your problem solved?? what was it?

It's going in later today, my initial thought is the coil pack. I'll post up what they find although I have a feeling it'll be a case of 'we can't fault it'first time in...

with the 1.8Turbo engines, used to happen that with the coils. I had one Octavia VRS 1.8Turbo and "died" 3 coils on diferente times

Dirty connections apparently. They've cleaned them up and say that the car is fine. I'll report back once the fault reoffends!
