Orange engine panel warning light on...

Featured Replies

Recently the orange panel light in the shape of an engine has appeared just seconds after start-up.

Initial switching ignition-on the light comes on, start the engine it goes out momentarily, then it re-appears, it doesn't flash, but stays a steady light.

I looked in the Skoda manual which states 'Control System for Exhaust'

Page 34: States.. The engine management system selects an emergency programme which enables you to drive to nearest garage by adopting a gentle style of driving ( I assume they mean limp mode)?

I have booked the car-in for a code check, performance is not affected and the car still goes like stink..LOL

Any opinions/ views on the subject most welcome..

Get the codes read. The check engine light comes on for a number of reasons. Probably only a temp sensor gone fecked up.

Thanks for info 'vindaloo', I'm hoping it's just a sensor replacement..

There are so many dam sensors, prefer the old days where totally ignorance with very little in the way of light warnings was bliss.. LOL

Car has been to my local independent garage for code readout, and found a wire leading into a sensor connected to a small water pipe, just right (as you look down at engine) of oil filter cap.

Will post a photo when weather more favourable to get under bonnet..
