New owner of 62 reg Octavia vRS Tdi DSG

New owner of 62 reg Octavia vRS Tdi DSG Race Blue.

I’ve just collected a 62 plate from Evans Halshaw in Hemel Hempstead after rejecting it first time due to road noise on the A41.

Following my query on road noise I was about to buy a 60 reg vRS with Columbus sat nav, full leather and xenons from Letchworth dealer because of it’s spec and it was quiet on the motorway  but I’ve had a lucky escape.

The dealer had agreed to respray the bonnet/wings as we had noticed a lot of stone chips on our first look. Went back for a further inspection following a “valet” of the car. It was bright and sunny and the car looked ****** awful. Stone chips all over including the roof, scratched windscreen and drivers window etc. And the tyres were conti winter M&S.  End of.

Reflecting on the immaculate one at Hemel, we headed for another look. Did another drive on M25 and M1 and it was like a different car this time, hardly any road noise. Job done and very good price, they had just reduced by £400 since my first test.

No sat nav, or xenons but it feels like a new car, got the carbon effect black trim inside which I really like.

Just want the retrofit sat nav now

Sounds like a much better option! Get some photos up :)

Columbus retrofit not really an issue at all, as you might have found out by now. Plenty of info on the forum about fitting one.

Thread revival but I looked at that car. Looked very tidy. I only didn't go for it as they offered me a rubbish partex price and wouldn't haggle. They ended up dropping the price anyway..,

You got a bargain I reckon.

Thanks, It seems ok. Had free health check at Skoda and warranty work to stop the airbox rattling also 4 wheel alignment done by specialists and got ebay HIDs, just need to install.

The noise has not been a problem and have done several 100mile motorway runs with good economy 50+.

May not bother with Columbus as have been looking at Tomtom and Garmins with lifetime map and traffic updates although the phone app works ok but a bit small and fiddly to use.
