Amundsen+ map update or not in my Yeti -13?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've searched high and low and can not get a grip on the map update situation in my Amundsen+. I bought a Yeti with Amundsen+ a week ago. I noticed the maps seemed out of date and went online and found the November 2013 update at navigation.com. The update guide tells me that I need the original SD card that came with the unit. I never got a SD card. I started doing some research.

First I called Skoda Sweden customer service where a lady told me my dealer should have provided the SD card with the car. I went to my dealer and talked to three people with different replies:

* Sales man #1: "You can use whatever SD card you want. Just buy one in a store."

* Sales man #2, the guy who sold me my car: "There was no SD card with the car from the factory."

* Technician: "Look in the glove compartment for the two SD card slots. You get three free updates that you download from the web. You don't have card slots in the glove compartment? Let me see your car." He didn't find any SD slots in the glove compartment either and after some discussions between tech dude and sales man #2, the tech guy told me I had to buy an SD card with the update for 3000 SEK (roughly 300 EUR).

Anyone here who know any details on this? My Yeti is a 2013, shouldn't I also be entitled to three free updates?

Hej "swepett"!

Same guys I met ... and probably in the same sales place as well, Agnesfridsvägen ...?

Amundsen+ is not the product that uses the map updates from navigation.com. Here you find the maps for the Pioneer produced Amundsen (no plus after) with two SD card slots in the front of the head unit. Our Amundsen+ is made by German TechniSat and this unit uses a SD card where you can not change the content yourself, instead you will have to buy a card every time it becomes available with a new update. The rumor now says March 2014 or something close to that for the new 2014 update ...

...  and I do agree with you, even though my Amundsen+ has the latest 2013 maps installed the information seem a bit outdated when you realize that road changes 5 years old are not represented in the maps. And I know for sure that other NavTeq based sat nav systems have had the correct data since 2011 ...

So, if you find a good ( =free) solution for this you are more than welcome to let us all in on it ...

Have a nice day!

I think you'll probably find that the Admundsen mentioned on navigation.com is a completely different unit to the one installed in the Yeti.......at least until the facelift model arrives.

Damn. :)

Damn. :)

Yepp, that's the way it is ... ...

... but I decided to just lean back and enjoy my car!

Good luck with it!

High, it does not seem fair that if you buy a Octavia 2014 with the Amundsen you get the free map update possiblity and

if you buy a Yeti 2014 with the pre-installed maps in the Amundsen+ this feature is not avaible.

Okay I meanwhile understand that new Amundsen Octavia III is made by a different company, but how can Skoda

justify to brand new owners of a Yeti with the Amundsen+ that they will have to purchase new future maps for their

own account?
