vrs cr magazine review

Featured Replies

Anyone got any magazine reviews of the cr vrs? Can only find pd ones.

I'll give you one. Underwhelming following my vRS tfsi both in terms of performance and driving experience but it was better with a remap. Unless you do serious miles I would go for the tsi (which I had following the CR). The CR is a good smooth diesel engine with progressive power delivery but just don't expect it to be as fun as the petrol. Each to their own though.

Already went for the cr mate, was just interested in what the magazines said

Chicken and egg possibly?

Chicken and egg possibly?

Egg, :)

I think most magazines liked it but said the TSi was the one to go for unless you were looking for frugality and cheaper running costs.

The CR can struggle to get power down in the wet (as i am sure you are aware, particularly now its remapped) and does have quite a small power band; find mine feels a bit laboured when revving out once out of the peak torque band. DSG makes it a good motorway car but hampers it further still as a drivers car IMO; and makes it less efficient and more expensive to tax. DSG suits the petrol better I think.

I went DSG as the wife wanted auto and I wanted a multi function steering wheel but part of me reckons it would have been wiser to go with the manual. Mine rarely betters 46-48mpg on a run; good for a 170hp car but I reckon the manual would achieve 50+

I averaged 37mpg with mine but daily driving was just the 16 mile round trip to work and I drove it hard most the time. Saw 50mpg once but had to drive like an old women so kind of defeated the point of having the car for me.

I reckon the manual would achieve 50+

I got 51mpg with a fully loaded boot, 2 adults, 2 kids on a 500 mile drive to France. That's about as good as it gets apart from through roadworks at 50mph.

Yeah I'm the wet it does spin but no more then my remapped fabia did. As to say it has a short power band I have to disagree, it revs like a petrol once mapped I think and keeps pulling and pulling. In hindsight the fabia had a really short power band, not the cr vrs
