Fabia ABS tone ring

Featured Replies

Some people have told me that the ABS tone ring is located in the wheel bearing, others (including my mechanic) have suggested that the sensor reads off the end of the hub.

The reason I ask is that I recently did some work on the front of my car and had to replace a few bits. Now I have an ABS fault light. The sensor sits very close to the back of the bearing, but has a circular dimple which points towards the hub. I'm lost.

Anyone got any definate answers before I end-up replacing the entire drivetrain in my car? It's driving me mad.

Also, can the ABS DTCs be reset without an OBD tool? Or does anyone have an old Palm PDA they don't want, as my Garmin Palm/GPS hybrid evidently doesn't work with the software and cable I am using

It is part of the bearing which comes with the hub (the bit your wheel bolts to) as a complete unit.

OK, so I damaged my old hub and replaced it with another off a low-milage breaker. That car didn't have ABS, so I'm guessing that the hub on that car (seeing as the bearing and carrier come as a complete unit) didn't have a built-in ring?

It's just that ETKA doesn't list seperate hubs for ABS / non-ABS cars...

IIRC they list different bearings for non abs cars

But you can't just replace the bearings, can you? Got to buy a whole hub?

It's strange, because the hub I got had the hole for the sensor and everything. What a waste!

You can buy the bearing, yes it does come with the hub but not the housing. The hub is the round bit of metal you slot the disc over yes?

Sorry - I'm being such a gimp... was too early in the morning.

So the bearing comes with the hub as a complete unit. The housing is a seperate issue altogether. I thought the housing, bearing and hub came as one unit (
