Exhaust problem .Help needed

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible to repair the concertina part of the exhaust which is close to the cat on the Octavia?

My daughter has a 1.4 hatchback 2001 and there is a small pin hole in this section and she is being quoted big numbers to replace it as it is apparently only available through Skoda.

The hole is not a wear hole but stone damage or something similar.

Otherwise it is all in good condition.

Any advice would be welcomed.

How does it sound with this hole? :)

Not sure what the concertina bit is...if it's the flexi part on the downpipe (looks kind of like a metal weave) then probably you can't fix it....if it is solid then probably yes.

Going to need some gun gun and a exhaust bandage.

Hi it sounds like the common part for going.

No these cannot be repaired.

You will also find that you cannot put paste at the front of the cat incase it gets sucked in to the cat then you will block it off.

No sorry you will find that it is a replacement cat and downpipe you need.

Sorry

Sarah

Have you been quoted around

Get yourself down to Halfords and try some aluminium exhaust tape. It wont get sucked in like gum will and its always better to try a cheap fix first ;)

Thanks for the replies.

Apparently the hole is on the flexible section and is "little finger tip size" and causes a roaring sound and she has been quoted around

Its a common fault. Trouble is paste will crack and fall out as its flexable.

New downpipe im afraid.
