Hiya. Was just wondering the ways I could see if my car has been mapped by the previous owner?

 

Just that had a race with a couple friends and I managed to keep up with my friends 1.6VTI Civic Jordan that's 160bhp and can rev to 8500 rpm.

 

Its just a bit of a scare really because ive heard that if you have it running too high then it causes all kinds of problems like turbo failure etc.

 

Anyway I can find out without a rolling road? :(

Obviously this racing wasnt on a public highway of course, because that would be illegal

Theres no sure fire way of physically looking at a car and saying "yeah thats remapped". Best way is to compare to someone with the same car that they know is standard. Or get it on a RR.

All this stage nonsense is just a way for companies to catagorise tuning steps. But they all do it differently to each other. Most would consider stage 2 as an exhaust, fmic, but on standard turbo i think?

Stage one just being a map and maybe an air filter if youre so inclined.

That helps a lot. No-one around where I live that owns a VRS. And if they do, They're old and won't have a cheeky little play. And no was on a Dual carriageway so we weren't like hoooning! haha:)

 

Will bear that in mind. And by stage 2 I meant to be able to run about 200bhp?

Buy a £6 blue VCDS cable off ebay. download VCDS-lite,

 

Below is a direct quote from the awesome faboka vrs (member on here), when I asked the same question;

 

Log group 11. This shows requested and actual boost. Stock is 2350. So 3rd gear from 2k to redline.

Group 4 shows fueling duration and timing. Think it should be around 22.9degrees duration at 4k.

 

 

 

For stage 2, you'd probably need a hybrid turbo, FMIC and funds ready for an uprated clutch should that go.

Yeah but looking at the map myself I wouldn't have a clue what to look for ! :(

Or will it actually tell me the Power output?

VCDS doesn't let you view the map itself its a program to view the settings/error logging an monitoring figures.
