Which scanner to buy for 2005 Fabia VRS >>Help..

Featured Replies

Hello,

Want to buy a scanner code reader, but which model from E-Bay..

U480, U280,U281 all state OBDII connection.

Any guidance or experience encountered and knowledge greatly appreciated.

I think any of those will work, the main point is the OBDII connectivity.

A lot of people just buy a 'dumb' lead and use VCDS Lite, a free download from Ross-Tech for fault code reading and clearing. The codes are all on Ross-Tech Wiki which also gives you an idea as the codes meaning and how to start fixing the problem.

Shouldn't you be advising that you should buy genuine Ross-Tech cable and then attend the Hut meets ;)

I don't think he'll want to drag himself to the Hut for a 2-4-1 from Cornwall :D

Buying the cable still requires buying the scanner, is there a reason not to trust the cable that is purchased with scanner??

I might be getting confused. But like Lee said any of those should do it, they look to have the reader too? Thus you will just need to do a quick check of Ross-Tech wiki. Otherwise you can buy a lead itself, that links to a laptop via USB and download VCDS lite or you might get third party software which will look like VCDS lite, but won't be and I wouldn't trust it!
