Columbus bluetooth module no maxidot?

Featured Replies

Ive just fitted a columbus to my octavia mk2 pre FL without maxidot, which module would i need and what else is involved? do they work with all phones?

5k0 035 730 d (d suffix or above).

This uses hands-free protocol which works with all phones. It wont show in maxidot (not an issue for you anyway) but not many do on pre fl cars and also work with all phones. You get the added advantage of bluetooth streaming and headunit fuctionality is good. You dont get any premium functions like text readout or wifi but hardly the end of the world and you would need maxidot for that anyway.

You can buy a loom and mic from www.carsystems.pl and possibly the module also. Otherwise ebay for the module.

Prefixes of 7P6 are equivalent to the 5K0 I believe.

Spot on cheers adam. So i would just get a display on the HU screen when recieving calls? Will i be able to access phonebook etc from the HU?

Yes full functionality with the hu including access to phone book and recent call lists. The latter can be a bit hit and miss (seems to download as you enter car, so that the calls made from the car on that journey don't always show), but the phonebook is remembered and easily refreshed, even if using a web based contact list.

Hi

I just got one of these but revision B to enable me to use my iPhone as from the factory I had RSAP only. It displays on my maxidot fine. This morning though my battery was dead ( I only installed it yesterday afternoon.) could this be draining my battery or just a coincidence?
