Build week vs delivery time?

Featured Replies

Just had the exact opposite of an early Christmas present. Expected delivery was tomorrow-I was never expecting this in reality as a few weeks ago there was still no build confirmed. I've found today my build week is week commencing 24/2/14. I ordered 2/10/12. So worst case scenario how long after people getting a confirmed build week has it taken to delivery? There are of course more worse case scenarios i.e. it drifts back. Only options are met paint and cruise control.

Positive is it will hopefully be a March reg car by time it comes. The problem is I'm really going to need a car early in the new year, can get by for a week or two but then it will become a pain. The dealer has said that vRS build weeks are all moving forward at the moment not sure I believe this after being on this forum.

PITA, in hindsight if I'd have know this when I ordered I'd have just gone for something else as much as I like the vRS.

Seems that most build weeks are coming forward at the moment, mine was originally provisional for w49, then w8 but come back to w4, so it seems highly possible.

Personally, if it was me and the dealer/Skoda have left you without a car because of a delivery time that is longer than you were quoted at the time of order then I think you have grounds to expect a courtesy car from the dealer, I know I have had courtesy cars in the past because of this sort of issue.

Also, my dealer are taxing my car because of long delay, my tax runs out end of December, my car was due by then, so why should I be liable for additional costs on my existing car, taking the paperwork over to the dealer tomorrow, if they won't tax it then I fully expect an alternative car to be provided until mine arrives, simple as that.

I reckon they are struggling to keep up with demand for vRS's, particularly TDi's. Regular models have been in production longer particularly the wagons so expect lead times on those to be far less woeful.

I ordered my 2.0 TDi Elegance estate maybe two/three weeks ago, has been assigned to BW 4 and its anticipated i'll be good to pick it up on 1st March, could slide but looking good seeing as I got a build week within a week of ordering the car.

My last two cars have been a Fabia vRS estate and Octavia Blackline estate, decided to go Elegance this time as it still drives lovely, is barely any slower than a vRS TDi (easily as fast if not faster than my Blackline), lots of spec, cheaper and like the fact its half pokey but is so non descript you'd not know it.

if you want a car quicker i wouldnt rule one of these out, is a semi-wolf in sheeps clothing.

My cars history has been:

12 November- ordered

Week 49 (wc 02/12) built

18 December - arrived in Grimsby

19 December - delivery being made to dealer (yes, really)

23nd December - Daddy and car make friends

Provisional B/W 12 for me. We'll see...
