air conditioning wire harness loom cut by mistake

Featured Replies

Hi all. I was installing a hands free kit the other day. All was going well so I decided to make the area around the back of the stereo larger so started to cut out some of the plastic so the new wires would fit in nicely. Well this is when it all went wrong. After moving all the wires out the way well what I thought was all them. I started cutting. Wasnt untill after I had seen I had cut in to the loom great. After a lot o swearing I took the glove box out and could see I had cut 4 wires. I re soldered them back together and heat shrinked them. Now I have the warning lights tyer low air bag and traction control on the dash. So my question is. Is it ok to re solder the wires back together with new wire. And will these lights go when I get them cleared. Thought the low tyer and traction would just go off or will I have to drive it.

Cheers

Drive it round the block for starters

Could you not just use a small choc block To reconnect them? This would be very straight forward !:)

You will need VCDS to clear the airbag light.

If you have had the battery disconnected you will get error lights until you drive a short distance. Does the A/C work as it should?

Cheers everyone. Drove it and most lights went out. Every thing works. So just cleared all faults and airbag light has gone off.
