Xenon not working after bulb replacement

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have Bi-Xenon with AFS and I replaced passenger side non-working Xenon light bulb with a new one (same Philips D1S as the previous one) and it didn't seem to help. I have checked driving light fuses from the fuse box in the engine room. In addition I checked light-related fuses from the dashboard, but they all seemed to be fine. Do you have any ideas what to check next? Parking light and high beam works correctly.

Bulb replacement was performed as instructed in here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/243649-xenon-headlight-replacement/?p=2861106

Could it be the ballast? Does the new bulb work in the drivers side?

Do Xenons have some sort of starter like flourecent tubes could be something to do with that?

You need to read the fault code stored.

Could be the ignitor, could be the ballast, wiring defect or it might even be a faulty bulb.

Thank you for the replies. I actually havent tried the bulb on the driver side, but I had two new bulbs to try with and both were dead on the passenger side. Fault code was defined only as a "manufacturer specific code", because I only have a generic fault code reader. It seems that my knowledge is exceeded and this is something to deal with the service. Although, I'm open to new suggestions since it will be after christmas I'm able to service the car.

Do you have the tools and time to remove the headlight unit from the car?

I've had a couple of these in recently and the Xenon control unit (located on the under side of the headlight unit) has had plenty of water and corrosion in there

DanSej6, I think I have the required tools, but I'm not sure how to do it. If I get that far, is there way to determine if the ballast is broken or not?

You could use the one on other side to test against, probably need to rip out both lights though?
