Picked up a 2007 Octavia Laurin & Klement 2.0 TDi yesterday. Its Flamenco Red with Pegasus wheels and sports pack suspension.

 

I will be on the Octavia forums more now having previously owned a 2007 Fabia vRS.

 

Had a short spell away (Seat & VW) but back in the Skoda fold again.

 

Hoping that the Octavia is as good a car as the Fabia vRS was!

I'm biased too, having changed from a 2005 Fabia vRS to a 2009 pre facelift Octavia L&K. Normally change my cars every 2 to 3 years, I've now had this one for just over 4 years, that says it all I think!

Does it have the auto dimming exterior mirrors? It was around the age of your car that this was dropped from the L&K spec as standard so be a bonus if it does.

Do you have interior grey "Royalti" or black interior with alcantara?

It has the full black leather, no alcantara, and hasnt got the L&K logo inprinted into it,

 

I am not sure about the auto dimming door mirrors tbh, i realised that I have had the auto dim turned off

 

on the bottom of the mirror, does this turn off the door mirror auto dim function too?

 

The car was owned by Skoda UK as a managers car for the first 8,900 miles.

 

I am assuming this is why it has the optional £500 extra pack with the Pegasus wheels and sports suspension.

I think so but I havent got them, mine being an 08 model. In that pic i can just see the mirror and it looks possible the exterior glass has the surround that holds the wiring. It is a black surround all around the glass if it is present.

Very nice, the Pegasus alloys make any MkII Octavia.

 

No xenon headlights though, these became standard on the L&K late 2007, early 2008 (you have the manual headlight adjustment).

 

It's good to see the tailpipes polished. Such an easy thing to do and they make a real difference to the look of the car!

Yeh I gave the tailpipes a quick lick with my dremel with fine copper wire brush attached and come up real nice. Thanks for noticing!

 

I will have to have a play with the auto dim mirrors in the morning, and see if the door mirrors auto dim too. I'm starting work at 6am so will be driving in the dark!

Pretty sure dimming wing mirror will be standard on early l&ks.

As for xenon lights just get a hid kit if u want them as they were a option on early l&ks.

Yes, the auto dim button on the interior mirror controls the auto dimming door mirrors.

 

Early L&K models have auto dimming on all the mirrors including the passenger and driver door mirrors. At some point they dropped the auto dimming door mirror on the passenger side.

 

I believe they dropped the dimming mirror on the passenger door sometime in 2007 or maybe early 2008, but I'm not sure....I do know that adamal's 2008 does not have it and my 2006 does.

Oh....I didn't realise you had neither. I always thought later L&K's had the dimming drivers door mirror. 

 

I wonder if it was an option on later cars to have dimming drivers door mirror, as I know someone with a FL L&K that has dimming on the drivers door mirror.

 Very true..........that being the case I wonder if your car has had it's drivers door mirror glass damaged and replaced with standard mirror glass in the past. If I remember correctly the mirror glass alone for auto dimming external mirrors is nearly £200. At that kind of money, I'd probably do the same if one of mine got trashed.    

No I think it was an unspecficied option in my case as I wondered the same but when I checked the wiring some time ago, there is none present either to or from the relevant door controller pins.

Mine doesn't have the dimming door mirrors either, I think it was dropped when the updated L&K was launched for 2008 MY. At that point the full leather black interior was dropped in favour of the black alcantara and leather or grey leather as well as getting the sputnik 17" alloys in place of the 16" items.

They've got to be off there faces!!! 

£357? Is that for an auto dimming mirror? Mine are defo auto dimming, but for that price if they stopped auto dimming them

I see you have a 2006 L&K, so both your external mirrors will be auto dimming. I presume you need new mirror glass to fix the fault.......although £357 sounds very expensive, the auto dimming mirror glass is about £200 for the part alone, so when you add dealer labour rates to that, £357 is not far from the mark. 

 

You could ask them to quote for replacement standard heated mirror glass......I imagine it will be about £150 cheaper. 

"Drivers door mirror glass faulty" so could be anything imo but I dunno

Does the glass still reflect? If so give them the big f.r.o..... hic gulp....too much new year grog!!

No longer dims/reflects but still works as a mirror.

You could look for an early mk2 L&K being broken as the scrapper may not know what he has, or try ebay including ebay.de as they come up there periodically. The part number is 1z2857522b. (I was looking to retrofit at one point until i realised the cost!)
