remap for economy 2.5tdi

Featured Replies

Hi Everybody

Has anyone experience (good or bad) of remaps on a 2.5tdi auto?  Some firms claim up to 20% improvement, which seems a bit optomistic to me. Also Happy Christamas

Cheers

Joe

20%? No way.

In my experience up to 10%.  If you want economy go for a 1.9.

bit late for that I already got one!!

Then sell your 2.5 and get yourself a 1.9 as Xmas present!  :giggle:

No, seriously, I find the V6 is brill on the motorway, yes a bit worse mpg than a 1.9, but so much more drivable and smoother, in my opinion it;s worth it.

Round town, the V6 will use 2x more fuel than the 1,9 and no matter how careful you are and what remap you have, it will always use a lot more fuel than the 4 pot.

Out of the V6 I get 40-52 mpg on the Motorway (90-100 mph cruising abroad, or 65-70 mph cruising in the UK), so generally happy with that.

Round town though mid 20s, but an insignificant mileage of my total mileage is in town so doesn't bother me too much.

What sort of usage do you subject yours to?  Auto or manual?

It's auto and 90 percent of driving is 30 mile commute up the a5 at 60mph, managing to get about 40mpg at the moment, but only had it a week so still having fun using kickdown and playing with tiptronic! I live in Pattishall so will look out for you round town.  By the way do you use a local garage?  I need someone to plug it in to diagnostics to reset brake pad warning and look at park sensors.

Oops!

My bad.

Missed the tdi bit ...

It has been done.

And the economy is amazing!

But u right Ade.

Best not to consider.

LPG conversions on diesels are very complicated :-(

A remap doesn't instantly improve MPG. The way you can get more MPG out of a remap is that you have more power and so don't need to push the car as hard etc.

40 mpg is good on that kind of journey mate.  I do all the servicing myself, simple enough on these cars, especially if you have a vacuum oil extractor

If you are anywhere near Northampton NN5 give me a shout, you are only a few miles from us, I have VCDS, we can read all the error codes and reset/clear.  Just drop me a PM.

Dear Oh Superb

I don't have permissions to PM you for some reason, maybe as I am a newbie.  Thanks for kind offer, would like to take you up on it (tomorrow would be ideal), maybe you can PM me? or I could meet you somewhere like Limehurst or the Squirrels etc.

Thanks

Joe
