My question regards the blu-Ray player on both machines.mainly,do they play 3d movies out the box with no firmware updates?

The XBone definitely doesn't do 3d bluray out of the box. It may yet get a firmware update to support it, and it seems the same is true for the PS4.

That's just silly by both manafactures surely.The ps3 did run 3d but only after a firmware update.

You'd think both of em would want to make their machine a better buy than the other one

They were both under a lot of pressure to get the consoles out for Christmas, and some things just weren't ready in time.
