Have I Missed Anything (Wet Drivers Carpet)

Featured Replies

I know this is a regular topic that must get mentioned at least once a day but i really cant think of anthing else i've missed, i've searched loads but now i'm totally out of ideas.

The drivers side front carpet in soaking wet, it started months ago but i actually got round to doing something about it about 4 weeks ago and i still havent found the cause of the problem. The aircon doesn't work so ruled out the condensate.

So far i have...

Sealed the door carrier (door rubber is dry as a bone now where as you could see the water that had built up in it before)

Changed pollen filter

cleared out the plenum chamber (5 handfulls of rotten leaves and even a crisp packet :giggle: )

Am i missing anything else.

Someone recently said there was water leaking into the footwell from the casing around the clutch pedal, might be worth looking at.

Anything's worth a look at.  Is it where the clutch master cylinder goes through the bulkhead?

Its definatly not the doors. Just pulled back a bit of carpet where the bonnet release handle is and it was wet so my leak is deffinatly coming from top down. Possible windscreen?

1) Door seal rubbers can deteriorate and allow water past. It'll then run down into footwell.

2) Wire connector block in the kick panel or the seal taking the wires into the door can be loose or leaking.

3) could also or otherwise be any grommet or seal in the vicinity... Around pedals/cables etc.

Just had a long read of option 1.  Think this is the best solution as i'd need to strip everything out anyway to dry the carpets and also if i went for option 2 or 3 i'd still have to complete option 1 anyway.  Thanks for the help, thats exactly what i was looking for…..but not looking forward to doing  :dull:
