Squeaky clutch

Featured Replies

Hi people,

I've had a problem with a squeaky / creaking clutch on my 1.4 16v for about 3 weeks now, ever since the hot weather. It's intermittent but happens about 85% of the time and sometimes happens when i depress the clutch and occasionally when i'm releasing it. It can only be heard when the car's stationary and sounds like it's coming from right underneath the drivers seat.

I've had a couple of mechanics look at it, one at the Ford garage where i work and one at my local(ish) Skoda garage, they both diagnosed a problem inside the slave cylinder and it was duly replaced under warranty last thursday. The noise wasn't there when i collected the car but it returned when i arrived home and has been there continually since. It's driving me crazy!

The first time it went into the Skoda garage i was told that no-one could replicate the fault which i find hard to believe but anyway.... i'm just getting fed up of taking my car back to be repaired ( it had numerous other problems early in the year?.

By the way it's a 51 plate wih 60k on the clock....... any ideas folks? I'd be most grateful.

Could be the clutch switch squeaking.

Thanks for a quick reply, i really should know this working in a garage but what does that part do and would it just require a bit of lubrication?

I had a very similar problem develop on my VRS with a squeeky/creaking clutch pedal action, the dealer said they replaced the clutch master cylinder and it's been perfect since.
