Have any Briskodians used or are using Asnu injectors?

 

 I ask because I will be turbo'ing the Golf eventually, lots of people seem to think the VR6 needs 630cc injectors, tried and tested but Asnu suggest a smaller 500cc or 550cc with a much more refined atomisation to give a more efficient burn for better performance rather than a big dump of petrol. Sounds plausible to me so would like to know if anyone has experience of them.

Good call snow_muncher.

 The guy who is doing the job is running Asnu in a 2.0 8 valve turbo G60 Golf, currently at 475bhp, I am tempted to use the same because of what I have seen with his car and what Asnu have said.

 Not sure who is mapping it yet so will try and get a few comments from different tuning houses.

Jabba who did my original mapping wanted only Bosch Greentop 440s'

 

R-Tech apparently hate these, and want Genesis 550s'

 

Personally I'd not buy any injectors (or FPR for that matter) intill you've found a mapper you like, and ask them to tell you what they want for the job

You need to know what bhp you are aiming for in order to work out your injector size, and at what part of your rev range you want your peak power. When you have those two pieces of information you can calculate what size your injectors need to be in order to provide a good enough fuel supply. Then once you've worked out your injector size you can calculate your what fuel pressure you need and get your pump requirements.

BSFC is assumed to be approximate 0.55 for NA engines, closer to 0.65 for forced induction. To work it out clinically you would need to mount the engine to a test rig and test torque at specific RPM's etc, but for an otto cycle petrol engine those assumed figures will give you an accurate size for your injectors. It's worth bearing in mind that if you decided to update your fuel pump to deliver more pressure with the same volume of fuel, then the theoretical injector size increases. For example a 500cc injector at 40psi becomes a 559cc injector at 50psi. The trick with fuelling systems is maintaining pressure without losing volumetric flow (similar to sticking your thumb over the end of the garden hose, the more you cover up the more pressure you have, but the less water you actually flow). This is where an uprated fuel pump comes in which has a greater flow capacity at the same pressure. Best book you will ever buy is called Maximum Boost by a chap called Corky Bell. It is aimed at designing and building a turbocharged engine from the ground up, but all of the base calculations and theory start off with the NA version of the engine. Massive goldmine of information, cannot recommend it enough.
