Brembo Fitting

Featured Replies

Gents, is there any specific torque settings to use when fitting the Brembo's to the Golf or should things just be FT?

FT is good.  I don't think the caliper bolts on mine were ever done up to any specific torque.  Just FT  :D

As I suspected, crack bar will be getting an outing.

I'm not sure "that" FT is needed   :D  Just fairly FT   :D  I wouldn't imagine it would need to be tighter than say a wheel bolt, which is about 120Nm.

I always do them VFT tbh

Failing a proper workshop manual figure, a browse through tinterweb will procure you torque data for a range of fastener grades and in the particular sizes you need.   The bolt grade should be stamped into the head of the bolt.

here's one -    http://www.finaldrives.eu/PartsBoltTorque.htm

Brembo's went on today and they look great, problem now is the rear discs look puny in comparison.

What have you guys fitted to upgrade the rears and what car do I get them from?

Golf currently has 256mm vented rears.  I am guessing the next step would be 280mm or 288mm maybe?

I'm using stock vrs rears, which I think are 256mm vented also.

You do not want too much braking on the rear though, otherwise they will out perform the front (less weight at the rear), and cause you to have some interesting handling characteristics.

I like this answer, it means I can keep hold of some money as what I have is adequate, result        I have standard Pagid pads in the rears and they seem to be in good order.

However the fronts I removed today were very crumbly, they are DS2500's, have only done 300 miles and one track day, the edges of the pad look odd to say the least.

I will take some pictures and post them up.
