Has anyone tried changing their order recently?

Featured Replies

Afternoon folks,

Some of you may remember had a few issues with my current vRS and I've had a replacement on order since the end of September.

I've recently seen some pics of some lovely looking black vRS' and I checked today if I could still change aspects of the order as it was previously showing wk8 build.

The dealer has got back to me saying that technically I could change my order but as it currently has it's price protected (from the recent price increases) this would be lost if I amended the order.

Does this sound right? I've questioned it as the car was ordered months (and months) ago at the price at the time and especially as it's a replacement car.

I'll wait and see what they come back with but I was just wanting to field some opinions!

Cheers

I shouldnt imagine it should affect the deal/finance you agreed to, you are just wanting to amend the spec of the car.

Worth a phone call back saying you want to amend you order as you have changed your mind.

I've just had this in reply - I've no idea how these things work but it does makes sense in a way. Just not for the customer!

Hi Michael,

The base cost of the vehicle's across the range have increased, as well as the cost of options including paints. Which is common place at the start of each year especially for VW group manufactures. I understand your car is slightly different as it is a replacement vehicle though the decision would not rest with us at dealer level.

I'm not sure if Skoda UK would green light the amendment at non cost, as it is a significant rise in price and they would look at the original car and the replacement amended version and any costs that they have not passed on already as good will, and mainly it would cause problems with the finance, as the figures would be thrown out of sync as the older campaign for the 0% and servicing no longer exists for vRS or face lifted Yeti, and cannot be selected by anyone at dealership level.

The campaign removal for vRS and Yeti is to slow down the amount of orders so to correct the problem of the extended delivery times for these models.

As soon as I click in to the order to make the amendment to change the colour it will remove the price protection, and it would be the same if done by the team at Milton Keynes, and would need special authority from someone at Skoda.

Have a think about it, if it is something you really want to do, I will speak to Skoda and see if it is possible.

Kind Regards

Hmmm sit it out and get the car I've ordered anyway or try get it changed and delay things even more without even knowing if it's possible anyway!

I amended my order 3 days ago (added 2 extras) after having ordered originally in December and it wasn't a problem. I was also told I could still amend the colour.

Could it something to do with going from a provisional build to confirmed?  I'm also build week 8 but have not requested any changes, other than something the dealer will fit.

Possibly although as far as I know it's still provisional and if it gets to within 3 weeks of that you can't change it. Also my car is still on a provisional build week. I think!

I might get him to call skoda and ask the question at least. If it can't be done then fine, if it can then if got a choice to make and fast!

When I pointed out my estate was missing the rear seat release from with in the boot it was explained to me that each time a change was made to the order a new order had to be placed and they had cocked up.

If the finance deal does not change then no problem, if finance deals change then the new order could impact on which deal you get.

I would check with SUK as there are two cut off points for changes to your order dependent on what you are changing internal / external.

Mike,

Can't see why you can't change and pay any difference if there is any.

Skoda UK should be able to sort it.

Why not talk direct to the Dealer contact there. and then e-mail them with your request.

I'm going to my dealer to ask the question since they've offered.

The online configurator still isn't working so I've no idea how much the paint is now costing. Also, what's the increase on the actual car as without digging through the paperwork in the loft it looks pretty similar to the list when I got the car anyway.

Also has anyone seen moon white in the flesh? I've always loved the metallic white that Mercedes do so might swap to that if I can!

I was told similar by my dealer last weekend when I asked to add an additional option - was going to pay cash for it too!

"Any changes to your order would mean starting the agreement again"

Thought it strange as I had managed to change options on my first vRS when that was delayed!! Couldn't change any options on my current one as Skoda closed all factory orders the day after I ordered (its one of the last Mk2 factory orders)

Just wish they would get their act together and get our cars built - that way it would stop us all wanting to add options/change the colour and allow us to drive them!

That is interesting and almost put me off trying to add an extra option to my order when I originally read this post last month.

I decided yesterday to bite the bullet yesterday and ring my dealer, I asked whether I could add the Canton sound system, he said he didn't think it would be a problem.

I mention that other people on this forum had tried to add extra options, and were told they couldn't due to the 0% finance deal having finished.

He has contacted me today to say he has successfully added the Canton option to my order, I wanted to pay upfront but I am already paying the maximum 30% deposit allowed, so he had to split it between the deposit and the montly payments, it is still on 0% PCP.

It might be worth speaking again to your dealer, if you do want to add additional options and you have gone for the 0% finance.

That's great you managed to add it - just to be doubly sure get it in writing that it hadn't altered anything else, just in case!

I got an email yesterday saying my car has been built so it's a bit late for me!

Great news on your car having being built, hopefully you will have much better luck with this one.

My dealer sent me an email with the revised figures and it all checks out, I was a little worried at first that I had been moved onto the 2.9% APR rather than 0% as the email said "I have processed your new application".

Yeah fingers crossed!

So long as it's in writing. I did wonder if it could be done but wasn't wanting to risk delaying my build as it was so close.
