Chassis with increased ride height

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a showroom Octavia 3 4x4 SE 2.0TDi. The options fitted were a somewhat odd selection, and I find it hard to believe that someone actually went through the list to choose them. I have been assured that it was not a cancelled order or anything like that, and I am not really complaining because in many respects it hits the nail on the head for me and it did lead to a mammothly good deal. The only option I was not bothered about was the fancy Xenon lights which are OK but not in my book worth the vast cost. Still, they effectively came free with the deal I got, along with all the other options, so I am not complaining.

Anyway, on to the basic question I have. If I had ordered a car from new (and been prepared to wait the quoted 5 months) I would have specified the Rough Road Pack, which I believe has option code PK4. However this car that I have purchased has an option fitted which has option code 2UF, or "Chassis with increased ride height". The salesman didn't know the exact detail of all the options and there was apparently no detail on them apart from the list on the first page of the service book, but he did say that the car had "underbody protection" fitted.

Looking under the car it seems to have a fairly solid-looking sump-guard, but I don't know whether this is the standard protection under the engine or something similar to, or the same as, you get with the Rough Road package.

Altogether I am a bit confused by this as the options fitted in this respect do not seem to align with what I know to be available, which is basically the Rough Road Package (PK4) or nothing.

Can anyone with more knowledge about the options list help me out? I have attached a PDF with the options list from the service book in case this helps.

As far as I'm aware the raised ride height option comes with a sump guard similar if not the same as that on the last Scouts and the current Yeti with RRP.

Intresting if you have one with this option from stock; my dealer surggested when I ordered mind in October non were available or in the system.

I know that my car was ordered by the dealer on 18th July 2013 and delivered to the site on 4th December, so I guess that it was not a stock car as such and may not have been visible when your dealer checked.

I am not sure that it does have the Rough Road package as such because the option code for this (PK4) is not present in the list of options. However it may be that a different option code means effectively the same thing.

I will try and get it up on a ramp soon to take some pictures of the underside for general edification in the thread that you link to in your post.

Anyone else know more chapter and verse on these options?

Now at home I've more access to other links and looking at the on-line parts book, then item 7 is the normal insulation panel and item 20 the alternative reinforced thermoplastic sump guard, similar to that fitted to my RRP equipped Yeti, which I believe is what is described as the stone guard on the Octy III.

Part number suggests it's a Golf VII part; Yeti has a Golf VI part number.

That's very helpful. When I get the car on a ramp I will see if I can work out which one it has fitted.
