205 50 16 tyres suitable for MK1 Fabia VRS?

Featured Replies

This probably belongs in the tyres section but was wondering if the above tyres 205 50 16 would be ok to fit on a VRS I can appreciate that normally they are 205 45 16 is there any difference from the 45 to the 50?

Many thanks

Yes, a fair amount bigger!  20mm diameter + 3.4% rolling radius.

Don't do it (in my opinion)

2 Centimetres is a lot of extra rubber on the sidewall, not to mention it will slow down your acceleration due to gearing and the speedo will read the incorrect speed.

Thanks

Ignore the Mods (sorry Guys)

I have 3 sets of alloys all with 205 width and 16 diameter but with 45 profile for track, 50 for every day use and 55 with winter tyres on.

Biggest problem for me  is raising and lowering the suspension and swapping spacers around when I change wheels.

If all your after is one set of tyres for everyday use carry on. Most of the time my car is on 50s profile - yes it does take the edge off acceleration and alters the speedo reading ( mine is more accurate now as it was under reading with the 45s)

Benefits - possibly cheaper tyres, smoother ride and not having to worry about curbing them  as much.

As long as you aren't too low and can live with the look of fatter tyres go for it

Done in excess of 45 thousand miles on mine with no problems
