Park assist question

Featured Replies

Thinking of ordering park assist. Does this give me front sensors for parking as well as rear for manual parking? And does this give me the radar based cruise control and radar braking? Would love some help on this ASAP as adding it to my order tomorow. Thanks

Hi

it does give you front parking sensors that you can use manually by pressing a button.

No radar cruise or braking.

These are seprate options which have been removed due to parts shortages and vag prioritising Audi & VW etc.

Normal cruise available

Have Park Assist on my car good for (manual) parking as well as in auto mode. Lets you now if getting to close when driving to , like hedges or dry stone walls down lanes etc. Will save you the odd scrape or two plus audio warnings can be turned down within your infortanment system.

Hope that helps

And yes parking and front assist are not the same.

Confused..... Skoda in Bridgwater told me brake assist was included on the system? Any ides

Park assist is the system which turns the steering wheel to help you park, it has no effect on the braking system of the car.

I know what the park assist does it is the fact the dealer said that it has the radar based stuff included in the bundle. Or are they talking rubbish?

Park assist is controlled by the ultrasonic sensors positioned around the front and rear bumpers. The radar controlling the brake assist and adaptive cruise control is the big circular sensor positioned in the lower front grill, they are completely different systems and do not interact. It sounds like the dealer wants to do their homework more thoroughly.

@countryboy, it's not circular anymore since the early iteration of the system. The latest is rectangular. Just as a side note. :)

@henrybunt, it's just another case of a dealer having no idea what he's actually selling. The other posters here have already given the actual correct information. Park Assist has nothing to do with Adaptive Cruise Control (which contains the radar which is also used for Front Assist - the bit with the auto braking).

The parkassist gives you additionaly 4 sensors located on the wheel arcs.

Whole 360 degree around of car is scanned.

Another good point is that PA can check if the parking place is big enough while you drive up to 30km/h.

There is braking function but only if you park with PA and drive little bit too fast as 7km/h. I mean it will not stop you car but just slow down to these 7km/h.

Usually PA makes the job quite well.
