Service time - National Pricing?

Featured Replies

Rang round 3 of my closest "participating retailers" from the following website (as mine is due a service)

http://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/service-and-maintenance/online-service-booking/online-service-booking

And assumed national pricing meant that I would pay the same price at each one. Wrong! by ringing round I managed to save myself nearly £100 pounds.

So my car needs (and it should roughly cost inc labour):

Service = £250

DSG Oil/filter = £180

Brake fluid change = ? £45 ish

Pollen Filter = £21

Total £496 (quoted £490 from one centre)

Booked it in at (not my closest) approved Skoda dealer service center for £400 :-)

Still, gonna sting my bank balance :-(  Anyone else experienced the same?

Skoda's national pricing is the maximum you should pay.

It still amazes me when people come on here and mention how much they've paid for main dealer servicing when it's quite a bit more than quoted on Skoda's site.

You've demostrated how easy it is to save money (even compared with most indy's) through doing a little homework and spending 10 minutes on the phone.

I bet it's the easiest £100 you've made!

Try an independent, you will save a packet  also you can buy a pollen filter off ECP for about £8, simple to fit yourself, so for comparison try an indy to see what you can save.

Have happily used independants in the past with other cars but my Octy is only very young and I want to keep the full (all be it small) Skoda service history!

I am doing the pollen filter myself :-) sorry forgot to mention that!
