Build Week 4 - 20/1/14 - Anyone else?

Featured Replies

OK, after being provisional for several weeks on BW4, I popped into the dealer to confirm it was now confirmed BW4, it is, finally gone to code 20!  So it should arrive at the dealer in about 4 weeks time, then I am going in a day or two before collection to detail it myself ready for when I collect on March 1st at Midnight, apparently they are going to bring it into the showroom on the evening of the last day of February, so going over around 11.30pm for a photography session, pick up the keys and go!  Going over a few days beforehand to do all the paperwork, also as soon as they receive the batch of reg numbers from DVLA I am first on the list to select which one I want.

My spec is:

vRS Diesel DSG Estate

Gemini Anthracite Wheels

Red Stitching

Amundsen Sat Nav

Canton Speaker Upgrade

Colour Maxidot

Heated Seats

Variable Boot Floor

Black Pack

Sunset Glass

Standard Cruise Control

And, after waiting since September I am bloody excited!!!!

So, who else is on BW4, what you getting and whats your collection date planned for??

My standard 2.0 TDi Elegance estate is supposedly BW4, told it should be there and ready for a 1st March collection all being well.

Pretty good as a factory order only raised late Dec. Last Skoda I factory ordered took about 18 weeks.

Car arrived at the dealer last week, been in today to do all the paperwork.

Asked for the accessory booklet and went through and picked out all the bits I wanted, and then reminded them that they were paying for them, also requested 50 litres of diesel, to which they agreed as well!!

Picked my number plate, of which I picked the best of a bad bunch!

So everything is all sorted for March 1st delivery.

Finalised all the finance documents, and now by having a new car on 0% with a nice discount, free fuel, free accessories etc and my payments are going down by apporx £40 per month, plus no payment in March, so thats all a good deal in my view!

Perfect, chuffed to bits, just going to be a long two weeks now!!!!

How come you haven't waited for March 1st, just curious as to why?

Its just a reg number and im not precious about these things, also dont see the need to wait another two weeks for it when its PDI'd, prepped and just sitting around at the dealers. More opportunity for it to get damaged. Also not mad fussed at going into my dealership and waiting in line to have the car handed over...its my 3rd new Skoda in less than 3 years.....you could say ive caught the Skoda bug I guess! In truth the last two ive had ive got bored of and just fancied a change.

If it had been ready later in the month id have probably held off for the sake of a few days but two weeks I cant be assed with.

My current car is a late 62 plate and got top dollar for that so dont believe all the hype regarding residuals etc; just boils down to being ablw to offer your dealer a tidy well looked after car they can easily sell on, some models do better at that than others and its reg plate probably wouldnt make alot of difference.

It can be argued either way and fair shout to those who are adamant about having a new plate bit dont see the point myself.

I can understand that and in many ways I agree I was tempted to take it, however I have always wanted to drive off the forecourt at bang on midnight on registration day and it all fell into place this time so thought why not! Although the wait til march 1st is killer!!!

Skoda UK confirmed today that mine is at Uk port awaiting transfer to dealers - looking good for March 1st!! My first Skoda and I can't wait!!!

Yep - build week 4. Car arrived at the dealers on Feb 7th - but I'm in the wait until March 1st camp.

Yeah why not indeed James, Im quite impatient too and the thought of it being there ready id have struggled to put it off I think.

Going to be a bit unusual as going from a MK2 vRS TDi DSG to an Elegance 2.0 TDi manual but looking forward to it

I couldn't do without DSG now, got far too used it, and despite what people say about it I find it a perfect balance between comfortable cruiser for motorway and around town when you want it to be, but also, stick your foot down and I have no complaints, we have the wives car should I ever feel the need for a manual...... which rarely happens these days!!!!

The Elegance spec is nice indeed, seen a couple in my dealers and they have been nice looking cars.

Yay, just had a phone call from my dealer to chose my reg plate! They weren't brilliant choices, the first two letters were fixed but I went for XJZ as the last three letters. The car (a skoda octavia vRS hatch manual petrol in blue, with canton, kessy, boot net and leather heated seats) will be at the dealers late next week, PW Pro are hopefully going to detail it for me (they're right next to the dealers in mansfield) and then I'll be picking up my shiny new car on 1st of March...can't blummin' wait!

Got the car yesterday, made up with it. Is definitely a better car than the MK2 and have to say even the 2.0 TDi Elegance all in all is a better drive than a MK2 vRS; bit softer but easily as quick, does seem quite a bit tighter than the car I test drove though but that did have a few k on the clock and sure the best is still to come.

All the tech and gadgets are nice and mostly work really well.

Only thing im a little disappointed about is that ive found a couple of small interior marks that in yesterdays bad weather and general excitment didnt notice. Drivers door trim at foot level by speaker grille has an approx 1.5 inch scrape where someone has (obviously accidentally) scraped their foot getting out - probably during transit. The lower door plastics being such cheapo plastic they havent been particularly forgiving. Also a tiny nick in the steering wheel on rhe underneath where someones caught a finger nail/leg as getting in but its barely visible and not at all whilst in it. Again the steering wheel leather isnt the best and is easy to mark.

Im not overly bothered though, both yous really have to look for (Im pretty OCD) and sure they'll be accidentally added to down the line. Not something you'd be able to demand a door trim and wheel change for. Otherwise immaculately prepared. That is something id level at the car though...the percieved quality is very good but the harder you look theres some fairly evident cost saving approaches you wouldnt find on the MK2.

Stereo doesnt sound quite so good as the MK2's but its still v good. Three quirks I have noticed.....my Elegance spec car has no locking wheel bolts which I find strange....also the auto wipers dont auto park if in mid wipe and the ignition is turned off they just park on the screen which is a bit pap...wonder if its something that can be possibly resolved with coding. Finally you cant stick a postcode into the nav, you have to put town, road, number which is a bit backwards....but think i'll live with that.

One quite smart thing...they dont put engine tech badging on the back anymore so you cant tell what engine it has...adds to its sleeper appeal.

Oh...and the manual gearbox is lovely. I dont miss the DSG yet but may do in time!

My car was build week 4 but still nothing. There Is a vague possibility we might get it next weekend but I doubt it.

I want to collect it on the 1st March anyway so would suit me but the dealer is adamant we're getting it before the end of the month. Not impressed with the dealer and frankly I don't care when we get it now, just want to get it.

Mines a BW4..was built on 24th Jan. It arrived in UK on 10th Feb so I've been informed...  collecting 1st March. Can't wait !! I just hope it's not a "Friday" car !

So, no more sleeps now til I get my car!

Popped in yesterday, to make sure all my accessories I had requested were fitted, and the PDI was all done, also to have 10 mins to play around with the settings etc!

I briefly played with the Canton settings, and despite it being new and reading that it matures over the first couple of months I was surprised at how crisp and defined the sound was, and that was over bluetooth with 128k MP3 files, so once I use and SD card with full 320k files and once it has matured a bit it should be a fantastic upgrade!

Everything is now sorted and ready for collection tonight, so counting down the hours now!

Meeting dealer at 11pm for Pizza and coffee then driving out at midnight!

Been a long wait, but hopefully it will be worth it!

Excited!!!
