GTechnic C5 today - Alloys in the front room!

Featured Replies

Just brought the alloys in from my garage to warm up a bit.

Hope wifey accepts my reasoning.

Had good clean, Iron-x, and two passes of AG SRP so far.

Next is panel wipe then the C5.

Outstanding - did this with my rims on the evoque. Stored and cleaned them in the lounge.

Didn't go down very well lol

Well wifey just spotted them, OMG was her response. 'Not in the front room!'

So I pointed out how clean they were, perhaps cleaner than the house.

'Fair enough' says she. :) Win.

Lol lol liking your style !!!!!!!

Christ I'd be sleeping with the dogs if I said that. Even if it was true lol

In your living room? My wife had a moan because of how much room my summer tyres are now taking up in the garage, since I bought a set if winters.

I might bring them in the house tomorrow in time for when she gets home from work and give them a couple of coats of wheel sealant.

Why polish with AGSRP?

Panel wiping to prepare for C5 is correct, but it will remove ALL the Polish

Its not abrasive enough to polish the laquer on the wheels, its a cleaner and sealer AIO

After two passes of AGSRP was sure it was not removing any tiny scratches etc so yeah apart from a deep clean didnt do what I wanted.

Next time, a long way off given its C5! What would be a good 'swirl mark / fine scratch' remover for alloys, especially the black gloss I have?

Wrongly thought SRP has slight abrasive quality, some other forum elsewhere thought so anyway. Boooo!

Even so, I'm very pleased with the results.

SRP has fillers which will as it suggests fill imperfections and small scratches, however any IPA wipe will as Chris says remove the SRP and therefore any of its abilities to hide minor marks.

If your doing it by hand, and seeing as you've tried C5 give their P1 polish a go, even by hand it will give genuine results

Cheers both. One for the shopping list then.

Those wheels look just like the fabia Gigaro's without the diamond cut lip.

Only they have sprayed the inside of the wheel.

Not just sprayed through like on my crummy wheels, would love to get mine refurbed all black

like chris has already said p1 would be good for your wheels to remove swirl marks etc in them...

My Neptunes are going in to the refurbers tomorrow....not sure what colour yet...possibly Smoked Chrome

I'm going to seal them with Carbon Collective Platinum Ceramic Wheel sealer

That will look good chris against the colour of your car. I really want the Matterhorns for mine, but also like the Annapurnas.

Post a pic when you get them done.

To the Op I used jetseal 109 on mine and I've been told it should be good protection for them.
