Changing over dash inserts

Featured Replies

Question- Is it possible to change the decorative dash inserts? Currently have the standard grey (with black lines?), but it just looks too cheap. Can they be changed over to the 'wooden effect' inserts?

The small cubby just forward of the gearstick would be a problem, as the cover for it is part of the insert.

So, just wondering if it can be done.

I know a lot on here dont like them, but the showroom model at the dealers had beige interior and wooden effect inserts, and it just looked so up market.

I dont have the beige interior myself, so would need to see more pictures of dark interior and wooden inserts to make sure it still works.

Thanks

Are the inserts removable? If so you could contact someone like wicked coatings who could hydro dip it for you in a wood effect

Dont know if they are removable or not. Havent dared try to see if they are.

Not sure id want them coated. Sounds like vinyl??

How long is that going to last.

Don't do it, ur far too young and ur car is far too modern for the fake wood option. Imo it only really works with ivory leather and preferably in luxury barges such as Bentley et al

I agree i think it works a lot better with ivory/ beige.

As far as young and modern goes though, I'll have to disagree. A Jag is modern, and if i had a Jag, I'd definitely have the fake wood.Mainly because that was what the first pic i saw had, and immediately thought 'WOW'.

My Octy, still cant fully decide. If it had beige trim, it'd be a definite. The grey is too cheap looking. Why cant it be brushed aluminium or whatever it is. Dont they have that in the Yeti?

Oh, and remember, I am an old fart at heart. Apparently going round in my dressing gown and slippers

Well I've joined you in the gown and slippers brigade, came home from work last Wed with belly ache, turned out to be appendicitis, admitted to hospital on Fri, had key hole op yesterday, just been given all clear to go home, lucky escape as it had not burst, but won't be driving for at least two weeks, need to check with insurers apparently, depends how long it takes to feel comfortable breaking hard. So basically I've got 2 weeks of daytime telly, Briskoda and general car porn to look forward to!

Sorry to hear that. Hope your feeling better soon.

Perhaps time to set up a gown and slippers thread ;)

Lady V would come up and look after you, but she's scared your dad will nick her alloys :D

Don't do it, it will look horrible on a car with a dark interior!

Definite No No to both. No vinyls, and definitely not carbon fibre.

Brushed aluminium looks good in dark interiors.

The brushed aluminium would be my prefered option. Dont know why they didnt come with it to start with. Looks much better than the cheap looking grey plastic that you currently get.

But its not something they offer.

Piano black for me. I like a dark interior though.

Cheers both, I think i'm starting to feel I had a lucky escape, docs said I must have a high pain threshold as can't believe I only had symptoms for 2 days prior to op, I know someone who had theirs burst and they were out for 3-4 months due to infections, might get an extra lottery ticket this week!

Anyway, I've got to endure at least two weeks, staring out the window at my car, and she's already got two weeks of winter grime eating into her alloys, this was the first time in 7 months she'd not had her weekly dose of soapy, waxy, beauty products, not sure if my ocd can cope
