Bit boring.... Bulbs.

Featured Replies

It's niggled at me since I bought the car but I dislike the 'yellow' look of the headlights when on dipped beam, as they're totally out of sorts with the 'white/bluey' colour of the LED's in the DLR's

Anywho, I've put it off as I don't really want to lose the actual light the headlights give which is actually pretty good for a non HID headlight.

So, has anyone got any recommendations on bulbs that will enhance the look whilst enhancing the light produced as well?

I did have night breaker plus in my old car. Didn't like them much, did nothing they claimed to.

Thanks.

Im afraid you cant have both increased light output AND enhanced/whiter look together

One or the other

Basically, the whiter/bluer you go, the lower the output

Thanks Chris. Will take a look.

HID kit from London Colour on eBay. Very popular on here, just do a search.

If you don't want to go the hid route I found Philips bluevision bulbs good in my old octavia, have had mtec in this one which are a perfect match for the drls but light output not as good, I have night breaker plus now which I also find to be not as good as Philips. If you are interested I would sell the mtec for a fiver posted

Not true,

4.300k (which just so happens to be the Kelvin colour most manufacturers use for OE xenons) is the whitest AND brightest you can get - std halogens are around 3,200K.

Start going over 5,000K and the light output begins to drop again.

I have fitted Phillips Bluevision bulbs (4,300K ish IIRC) in the TT and they are an improvement over the std OE Phillips bulbs - not as good as Xenons, but better than std.

Think I'll probably go for the philips as they're £20 for a pair on amazon at the moment. HID sounds delightful, but I can't be arsed with ****ing about coding stuff. Cheers gents.

I'm afraid we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one

I have fitted blue vision and they are a lower light output compared to original bulbs but not as yellow

Not sure why,

Phillips claim something like 70% brighter, I am not convinced they are that much brighter... but all 3 sets I have fitted have been an improvement over the OE bulbs.

Bought the cobalt blue II in the end. Brilliant for a tenner, very white with a good throw!

@Bcc212

Glad you liked my recommendation.

Can't argue price or performance :-)

I think the Philips Crystal Vision are a very good match; but i havent taken the jump to Diamondvision as yet.

Fitted them in the dedicated cornering position for my car and they match the Xenons well and are very bright.

Another plus for Philips is i have found them very reliable on my last 3 cars at least.
