Strange Columbus issue with local radio stations traffic announcements

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have noticed over the last 3 weeks that I have a weird problem with one of my location radio stations traffic announcements. The Announcement comes on as a TP (which is fine) and provides a traffic update but then never releases properly. It keeps playing (with the TP menu up in the middle of the screen) and if I cancel it (either on screen or with the wheel controls) I lose all radio audio. I try to swap stations and I just get silence. I move to another audio source and it's fine. I have to <>! to clear.

I know its not the radio and TP in general as BBC Sussex, Heart, BBC Surrey, Capital etc etc all work and release fine or can be cancelled without issue. However; Spirit FMs just causes the above behavior and it's rather annoying!

Ideas, suggestions, thoughts?

Thanks

The problem is the local radio station not releasing the TP signal, so the radio still assumes that the traffic announcement is in progress. I get it here in Dorset when using TP in my Audi and sometimes have to manually cancel the TP.

If I try and cancel the TP it just leaves me with silence! It's weird as the other TPs work fine. Something their station is doing is screwing with the Columbus.....

I am not (yet) familiar with the Columbus system, but when I have encountered this problem on a different system, I have to recycle the TP feature through a couple of button presses. The first press seems to look for a traffic message actually being broadcast, and if it has finished, you will just get silence. I might be imagining this, but give it try.
