Ap coilovers

Featured Replies

Fitted these at the weekend and I'm very impressed with them so far but I seem to have a few knocks when on a full lock or pulling away not loud can't feel them but didn't know if this is normal for a short time while they settle in or if I should be more worried

I've checked and everything seems tight still I'm about half way on the front and back

Have you checked top mounts mate

You get little knock sounds driving slowly over undulating surfaces..? Next time you've got the front wheels off have a look at the wheel arch lining.. Could be the end of the droplinks fowling.. I had that issue..

Fitted new top mounts and bearings while I was changing everything I've had a look with the wheels on but can't see any obviouse signs of anything rubbing but will get wheels off at the weekend and have a proper look

mine knock all the time on uneven roads, pot holes, speed bumps - just learnt to live with it

Sorry to say they will stay for ages, it does die down though, im at least 7 months with my AP's and the nocking is a less frequent now

A year with AP's and no knocking. Just saying.

As long as it's normal so to speak and ain't gotta worry about something falling off doing damage to something else

It seems fine once driving it's just when pulling away and turning at a stand still but that's a rubber noise

I'll give it all the once over at the weekend make sure it's all tight and there's no obvious signs of anything then just turn radio up abit

Had a lil look and drop links are catching the plastic arch linings which will be done of the notice but don't think that's all of it

Does this mean ill need shorter drop link?? Thought the short drop links were to stop drive shafts rubing on wishbone

Any help would be appreciated

Yeah only seem to have to noise when pulling away and at slow speeds or at least that's the only time I seem to hear it

What did you do to cure it??

Thats what I get, its weird! I have triple checked bolts and asked for other people's opinions and every one was baffled!

When I took the wheels off I could see parts where the droplink end had been fowling against the wheel arch lining so I just trimmed off the areas of the lining where it was fowling.. Although I rekon fitting a shorter set of droplinks may work, but Ive yet to try that..
