Hi everyone, engine management light has been on wife's Vrs for a while now. Got codes read came back saying open circuit on plug 1. Put new plugs in but light came back on after being cleared. Has anyone had to replace the harness. Also could this be the reason why sometimes it needs a few cranks to start. New battery has been fitted but it made no difference.

What was the code?  Presumable you mean glow plugs?

It's not unknown for the wiring harness(es) in the head to go wonky. The heat cycling tends to lead to the insulation aging and cracking.

Yep glowplug, code was 17058. Googled it apparently its for plug 4, new glowplug was fitted and fault cleared but came back within 48 hours.
