Seal over wax or wax over sealant?

Featured Replies

Hmm confused should I add sealant over my Zymol concours or vice versa??

I've always done it as wax as the top coat, or to put it another way I always put wax over sealant

Start with the most durable product first as a rule of thumb.

Typically based on that it would be sealant then wax then Quick Detailers and the like.

Make sure your prep is correct though before the sealant, generally they prefer well prepped naked paint.

Also :o that is some serious wax you have their buddy :D what sealant are you using? To be fair, unless you have a tried and tested system, I might skip the sealant and go straight to the Zymol.

It came with a car I bought a few years ago only half a pot but I've only used a small amount and I'm wanting to treat the Octavia as its a keeper.

So in simple terms..

Wheels

Wash

Clay

Wash

Dry

Seal

Wax

Correct??

Yuppers.

My personal preference is to get as many nasties out of the paint chemically, prior to claying it makes the clay last longer and further reduces the risk of marring so maybe add

Wheels

Snowfoam/Prewash**

Rinse*
Wash

Chem Decon (IronX, TarX/Tardis)**
Clay
Wash
Dry
Seal
Wax

Otherwise spot on,

Edit: ooh, also allow for curing times on the sealant/wax

As he said

Now I'm confused...

Shouldn't polish be in there somewhere?

Regards

Mike.

If you need to...Yes....I do once a year

Between Dry and Seal

Wheels

Snowfoam/Prewash**

Rinse*

Wash

Chem Decon (IronX, TarX/Tardis)**

Clay

Wash

Dry

Polish

Seal_2012.jpg

Wax

Polish, seal then wax.

Sealing after waxing will most likely result in a milky look as the wax breaks down and as nowhere to go.
