Symphony Hu And Changer

Featured Replies

sorry if this has been covered before but i am buying a symphony hu and changer (cheers Q  ) and i have a couple of questions.

as my fab is a classic how do i go about wiring up this eqpt, is there is a loom already in place in the vehicle or is there an 'extension' cable that skoda use to extend the loom if so would i be better off getting the dealer to fit it etc and where would i stand with regard to warranties etc. i assume that a dealer could retro fit this?

if i am better off fitting it my self then any hints on the best way to go about this?

also i am thinking about fitting some 6x9s into a shelf i am going to make myself any ideas on the best way to wire these into the car.

as i need all the boot space i think this is the best and most cost effective way of upgrading the sound system in my car the front speakers are superb handling all my musical tastes at high volumes (ironmaiden metallica s-club  etc ) any other suggestions on what i could do?

many many thanks

alex

Make sure Q gives you the security code of the HU, or gets it "unlocked" so it will lock to the ECU in your car (assuming it works like that on the Fabia). I'm sure he will have already taken care of this though... :)

Wiring the HU to the speakers and power should be easy enough. The changer works using a "bespoke" loom - I guess you could order this from the dealer, or make up your own if you feel confident about using the pin diagrams. Installing it really will be as easy as running it under the trim at the sides and plugging it in at each end, so really not worth paying the dealer to fit.

Warranty - the new installation obviously won't be covered (although, being Skoda stuff it's a tricky one... ;) ) but it shouldn't affect anything else.

With regard to 6x9s - not too sure on standard speaker locations in the Fabia. If they are on the little shelves at the sides of the parcel shelf, you can just wire the new speakers into the "sockets" for the existing ones. If they aren't mounted there...I guess either run some new wires when you run the CD changer wires, or find where the existing speakers are and run them from there.

Yes, and a big thanks to big k for sorting that one out .
