Octavia Head Gasket!

Featured Replies

What's the going rate for a replacing an Head gasket on a 2.0 TD Octavia.Bought a 06 plate in Nov 13 76000 on the clock but it has just started loosing water.Dealer gave me 3 months warrantee on engine and gearbox. So its going back tomorrow for a pressure test.No signs of any leaks,Oil still looks fine,no smoke/steam from exhaust but it still loosing water.I can only think it could be the head gasket.cheers John

It's probably not the head gasket. There is a cooling pipe flange on the right hand side of the block that can leak. Also the EGR cooler can develop leaks, any one of the pipes going to/from the expansion bottle can have leaks in them. It could be the waterpump.

k.Y You were right, have been in touch with dealer today water is leaking around water pump area.He says it defiantly not head casket. He says he should know tomorrow exactly where its leaking from.I have told him that if its the pump then I will stand to the cost of a new cam belt because its due this summer to be changed anyway.I would imagine any mechanic worth his salt wouldn't fit a new pump without changing the belt.So I feel a bit better about it now. Thanks again for your advise cheers John

No worries mate. That's what the forum is all about.

I had the same issue a few years ago, it turned out to be the EGR cooler and a hose connecting flange on the engine block.
