Fine tuning split r valve

Featured Replies

Tomorrow my car is getting a full scan on vagcom, so at minute this is more preperation should it confirm that the valve is causing my flat spot and ever more frequent limp home mode.

I have the valve in hybrid setup at 16 clicks for the standard car but i am wondering if the spring were too tight what are the possible affects on the engine?

Likewise if the spring were too loose how is the car likely to behave?

The car has now had a scan with vagcom and found no faults with the engine. Even though i am still being thrown into limp home mode.

All sensors are working fine, and i have swapped for my standard diverter just to double check and that seems to work ok and has not pushed me into limp home.

Ive just opened my split r and the spring has not broken and all components appear in full working order.

Ive looked at the guide above and have tried from 14-19 clicks so far with all giving the same result,

Hesitation at 2000rpm and limp home after changing gear @ 3000+ rpm

Should i keep tightening?

(BTW, the valve has worked fine on 16 clicks since boxing day, doing best part of 1000 miles with no problems. Its only been the last week or so that this has started)

Though my car is not running right the split r no longer looks to be the offender so the 16 clicks seems to be the right set up.

I've switched back to the standard Bosch and am suffering the same problems so am now focusing on a breather pipe I believe to be the culprit.

Just wanted to clear things up as I know some people are still on the fence regarding split r's
