Advice on vrs prices.

Featured Replies

Decided that I will be getting myself a vrs after wanting one for a while! Currently drive a GT86 but with a new job and a longer commute a diesel is needed!

Anyway, what kind of prices SHOULD I be paying, been looking on autotrader and found a black one with 40k FSH and cambelt but they want £7k! that's surely way off?

any advice is appreciated.

Cheers,

Ben

that seems Very expensive lol, what reg, colour and does it have any optional extras? I.e heated seats, cruise control, oem Xenons etc. 5-5.5k sounds about right if it's full service history providing the body work is in good condition etc

Theres been a few posts recently about this.

I dunno where all these low mileage vrs are coming from, but long story short and what most people will agree with is that your right 7k is way too much.

You should be able to get a good one for between 3.5k and 4.5k all depends if its a main dealer.

Try looking in cars for sale on here?

Quite a few on ebay too and normally a few brisky members that are happy to take a look with you to point out the well known bad bits.

7k is the upper upper amount tbh for that i want ultra low miles (20-30k) and for it to be an SE model with all the extras and ultra ultra superb condition

5k will get you a mint 2006-2007 model with all the extra and low mileage (30-50k) i'd want to see FSH and the car would be superb condition

3 - 5k will get you anything from 2004-2007 model (including the SE) with higher mileage (80-120k+) but i'd want to see FSH ideally some sort after extra's

receipts for clutch & turbo and maybe some subtle/major mods at the very least

Anything below the 3k mark could be a gamble but good well looked after VRS's are in this range many will have higher mileage and mods

but this isn't a bad thing if the owners are enthusiast, but maybe be prepared to have to change/pay for items to be replaced/uprated

Some very very good cars can be had but you could also have your hands burnt with a lemon

below 2k is anyones gamble you might pick up a peach privately or a complete bucket most will be higher mileage (100K+)

Whats the score with the cambelt? I was of the opinion that it had to be changed every 4 years or when you hit a certain mileage? can someone clear that up for me

every 4 years or 60k miles.

cambelt is ideally every 60k or 5yrs whichever is sooner i would also replace water pump at same time pay somewhere between £175-250 to have this done using genuine parts
