I've just got a 7P6 BT module to replace my aging 1Z0-035-729B (well...it will when I can finally get the blinkin carpet cover off the old one! See my other thread!) but I'm wondering if the new one will fit in the same bracket that held the 1Z0 or not; I'm guessing not as the new one seems to be somewhat slimmer than the old one. 

 

The bracket currently holding the 1Z0 is like this one:

 

 

 

Am I going to need a foam holder to fit the new 7P6 into the existing bracket? Something like this: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-foam-cover-1k0919737m,id313.html

 

Or am I going to need a new bracket entirely?

 

I just used one of the foam boxes, and popped the carpet trim on top of it. The foam box holds the module to the floor using velcro, so you could get away with just sticking some velcro to the module itself I would imagine, but the foam box also gives something to stick the black carpet trim pins into to hold it all together.

 

Referring back to your other thread and looking at this picture, you can see where the pins fit for the older module - in those two metal uprights.  I can see why they would be tight, but they will just pull out.

did you have wiring already present or did you wire it all up? some say wiring is already there and all you need is the module but im not sure where to look etc

If the wiring is there you will see a module under one of the front seats, or a loom end with no module attached.

I have two of the foam blocks in my garage doing nothing - one brand new, one with a piece of 'velcro' missing.

 

These will replace the metal bracket completely and 'velcro' to the floor.

 

I don't need them as I modified the cage that you have to take the newer style modules.

I just upgraded my phone and it doesn't work properly with the older 729B unit, so I'm going to sell it. Well...I will when the new one is fitted and working
