EVO review?

Featured Replies

Hi to All

Anyone out there know which issue of EVO magazine carried a "driven" test of the vRS. It gets a mention in a group test a few issues back, but was also tested on launch. Would like to read the article.

Chris

That was evo 57, July 2003. Page 46 to be exact!

Only got 3 out of 5, marked down because of "lack of emotion and raw speed".

Funny, in 'The Knowledge' it's listed as 4 stars.

It was upgraded to 4-stars after it featured in a sidebar in the Clio Group Test a few issues ago, it also went into the Knowledge section at the same time. Think the 4-start verdict was from Richard Meaden who seems to know a thing or two about good hot hatches

If you search for it it's available on the internet somewhere, remember finding it when i was trawling for reviews when i was making my mind up about buying the car!

Hi to All

Thanks for the replies. Being a sad petrol head means going to the archive and pulling out the relevant magazine. It would appear that as the EVO team have had more experience with the car, they have grown to appreciate it's virtues more. In a recent hot hatch test, the vRS was suggested as an alternative to a variety of hatches including the Clio Cup (182), Fiesta ST, Mini Cooper S, Citroen C2 VTS and Ibiza FR. The comment was "...in real world situations, the Skoda's accessible in gear urge would keep all bar the Clio honest." as well as generally giving it a more positive write up than the previous road test.

They finished with "Sure it's no Clio Cup, but then no other hot hatch is. However, the Skoda makes a fascinating and able alternative to a Mini or Fieasta, particularly when you factor in group 9A insurance, 52mpg and a price of just under

I was going to reply but yiz are talkin' about the diesel
