Is Tomtom Go 700 worth the extra cash

Featured Replies

Have decided to get myself a Tomtom, I don't know if I should get the Go 500 or pay the extra and get the Go 700. I'm going over to France next year and possibly Switzerland at some point. I know the Go 500 comes with 'Major' roads of Europe, but how major is major? Just motorways or their versions of 'A' roads? Was wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

Thanks, Stu.

My brother is in deepest France at the moment useing his 700 said it has worked very well, finding his villa's dirt track road, door to door no problems.

TomTom's site lists the following coverage for Europe for the TomTom Go 700:

Door-to-door planning in the whole of Europe

All the newest TeleAtlas maps are now installed on a 2.5 GB Hard Drive as one seamless map, allowing you to find your way to any address across Europe.

Coverage:

Western Europe with Poland and Czech Republic.

Postcode navigation for simple and accurate selection of your destination (UK & NL only)

Street network coverage:

Benelux: 99%, FR: 99%, GB: 99%, DE: 99%,

AT: 99%, CH: 99%, PL: 18%, CZ: 36%

IT: 97%, ES: 86%, AD: 99%, PT: 43%

DK: 99%, NO: 99%, SE: 99%, FI: 99%

The map coverage is sufficiently detailed for me to locate a friend's address in Sweden right down to the house number, and the full postcode search facility for the UK and Holland is excellent. I'm pretty impressed with mine so far.
